RUNWAY FASHION SHOW AND PRODUCT LAUNCH
Lights, Camera, Action! Product launching coupled with fashion shows are becoming innovative ways to creative marketing plans.
Maximus Global Innovations (MGI) presented its product launching event at the Ramada Hotel with a spectacular in-person Runway Fashion Show. Award-winning Filipino costume and fashion designers Carl Andrada and Edwin Uy featured their design collections.
Guest speaker, Li Cerdenio, opened the festive afternoon with his “Food is Medicine” presentation.
“Plant-based foods are designer foods,” stated Cerdenio, founder of the Wellness Plus Institute and a member of MGI.
Both the Runway Fashion Show and MGI product launching offered an authentic style and taste of the Philippines.
“I’ve been doing (events) back in the Philippines for 15 years and now I’m starting again creating history in the United States,” stated Buboi Asuncion, the Event’s Director, as well as the President and CEO at MGI. “I love doing this kind of industry.”
The visually stunning runway fashion show began with Filipino Costume Fashion Designer, Carl Andrada’s CARMELA DESIGNS collection. Many of his fashions are found internationally in pageants.
“I’m more of a costume designer specializing in Filipiana dresses,” stated Andrada. “A typical design takes about three months. It really depends on the details. I just want it to be very authentic.”
Aside from the San Diego MGI Fashion Show, Andrada’s CARMELA DESIGNS will be at New York Fashion Week featuring his MUSA FILIPIANA design collections with a modern twist.
Andrada provided some background about the fabric he uses for many of his fashion designs.
“I will be using MUSA fabric, which is a hand-woven fabric made of banana fiber and hand-woven by the People Deprived of Liberty of Davao del Norte Provincial Jail,” stated Andrada. “It is a part of their rehabilitation … and helps them to have extra income for their families.”
The MUSA fabric is accentuated with sequins on the stunning floor-length gowns and the elaborate head pieces seen internationally in beauty pageants.
Even in San Diego, the models captured the audience as they walked the runway wearing the CARMELA DESIGNS collections.
Many of the models, such as Ayra Fong, Dominic Fernandez, Nathan Farquer, and Jeanine Detorio were discovered from photo shoots or pageantry with the fashion designer.
“I like how the fabric goes back to our heritage,” stated model Jeannine Detorio.
Another fashion designer featured in the Runway Fashion Show was Edwin Uy House of Couture designs. He is also known for designing pageantry gowns, but this fashion collection featured a modern fanfare.
“I think his style is very bold and also form fitting and very fashionable,” said model Karenina Zaballa who wore several Edwin Uy designs. “I wore the purple dress with sequins on it. That one reminded me of the Flores de Mayo Procession. Very close to home (Philippines) for me… and proud to represent it.”
Another spotlight of the MGI event was its product launching of four flagship products, including Sanitas, Medela, Gracili Alvo, and essential oils.
“We promote beauty, health, and wellness,” stated Rayvin Villanueva, a MGI team leader from Seattle, Washington who traveled to San Diego’s product launching event.
Several people provided testimonials at the event.
“I suffered from cramps,” stated Maricar Uy, the sister of fashion designer Edwin Uy and a featured speaker at the MGI event. She shared her story of using prescription medication and how it left a terrible neuropathic tingling and painful feeling in her extremities. Someone later approached her with an MGI brochure after they saw her limping at the market.
She eventually started taking the Sanitas MGI product.
“On the 3rd day, the swelling on my right knee went down,” stated Maricar Uy. “I was able to go down the stairs with no hardship.”
“Medela and Sanitas (products) helped me a lot as a former kidney transplant patient,” stated Flor Estebe, a MGI team leader based in San Diego, California.
